If you are open to brewing loose-leaf tea, there are some fantastic options for Keemun.

Harney & Sons has some great options, selling several different grades. A company direct-shipping from China, with very good Keemun, is TeaVivre. I also have had multiple good Keemuns from Upton Tea Imports. Some really top-notch examples include the Spring Keemun from Andrews & Dunham, the Keemun Mao Feng from Life in Teacup (a tiny company with an inconsistent stock, not sure if they still have it), Joseph Wesley black tea. And Foojoy sells some good low-end Keemun in tins.

For more detail read my keemun reviews on RateTea.

I hope you and others find this useful!Alex Zorachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08335878680429494039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8825055425170299721.post-81338025559801939302016-11-26T23:01:20.354-05:002016-11-26T23:01:20.354-05:00I find it interesting that you noticed a paucity o...I find it interesting that you noticed a paucity of both Keemun teabags and Keemun tea here in the U.S. I am an American in my 50s, and I grew up on "Twinings China Keemun" tea. It used to come in a black tin (loose leaf) or in a light yellow box (teabags). It has always been my favorite breakfast tea. Sometime in the 70s, Twinings discontinued selling Keemun in North America. I have done extensive searching both online and in stores all over the U.S. and in Canada, but it simply cannot be found. I guess us Yanks just can't appreciate a really good cup of tea, and the folks at Twinings (and all the other mainstream tea companies) have capitalized on that fact. I have lately been ordering samples from a number of "purveyors of fine tea", but compared to the Twinings I remember, they all are tasteless. If you can recommend some good Keemun providers, I would be most appreciative. Where I live, though, there are native hibiscus plants (not the ones here), Hibiscus laevis. I don't know if they can be used in tea, but they're native, and very beautiful. I limit myself to one cup every night because it is very difficult to find this flavor in the dollar store. Someone generously gave me 5 boxes about 2 months ago, which they were able to find in their dollar store. I love it so much, sometimes I make a second cup out of the same bag, as I am so afraid of running out. I only have 2 boxes left, which means in 40 days I will be going through withdrawals. That is, using boiling water and steeping for a long time in a thermos. By searching on Google (which is how I got here) I found that to "fix" bitter tea, one should steep for a maximum of 4 minutes and not use boiling water.
However, if that is done, then the tea is simply being made weak and not strong. This will prevent some antioxidants from leeching from the tea bag into the drink.

Anyhow, I'm going to continue drinking my lovely 'dry' tea because it's delicious!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8825055425170299721.post-4603923598130366692015-01-05T10:04:33.972-05:002015-01-05T10:04:33.972-05:00It is a lovely tea shop where I enjoyed several Ch...It is a lovely tea shop where I enjoyed several Chinese green teas. I've also tried the Peppermint and the plain Green Tea, and again, AMAZING! After I tried Lindsay Gardens Green Tea, all other green teas taste terrible! Bought Carrington (sp?) and could only take a few sips before having to dump it. It was revolting. Lipton is apparently one of the best tea brands out there, but I don't like their green tea. There's very little flavor, but at least I can stomach it. Unfortunately, I live in a small town and can't find Lindsay Gardens tea ANYWHERE. The only place I've found it is one bread store in/around Austin TX. I live more than six hours from Austin, so I can't just drive down there for tea, so I'm having to deal with Lipton. Gonna ask my mother who lives by Austin to get me a lot of boxes of it before she comes to visit for Christmas. Try it! It was pleasant, but I could not get a second cup from the same tea bag., which I usually can from other brands. a closer look explains why. Lindsay Chamomile has only .6 g per serving. The standard (per other brands in my pantry & web search) is 2 g. This explains why it is inexpensive and why a second cup from the tea bag is almost nonexistent. It was a blend of Bulletproof Cacao tea, David's Tea Jungle Ju Ju, Chai Guarana, Della Terra Chocolate Mate and Guayaki San Mateo (used a matcha teaspoon amount of each tea). It came out resembling a black tea. I think the molasses made the Chai flavors more noticeable. Some believe that since it's a liquid sweetener that it should only be used in cold drinks but it worked well in mine. I would recommend it as a sweetener for black teas. Yet I haven't tried it in other teas.
